Fencing Contractors Across North Yorkshire
From close-board garden fencing in Harrogate to post-and-rail paddock fencing near Thirsk, and full perimeter security fencing for schools and commercial sites — Wrights handle fencing contracts of all kinds across North Yorkshire.
We've been installing fencing for over five years, and we carry our own plant and machinery to tackle ground conditions that would slow smaller outfits down. Whether it's a dozen fence panels or several hundred metres of agricultural perimeter, we'll quote properly, turn up when we say, and leave the site tidy.
Residential Fencing
Garden & Boundary Fencing for Homeowners
Your garden fence does more than mark a boundary — it sets the tone for the whole property. We supply and install a full range of residential fencing options, using quality materials sourced from trusted suppliers. All posts are set properly — no shortcuts on depth or concrete — so your fence stands for years, not months.
We offer wooden posts or concrete posts as standard, with or without gravel boards depending on ground conditions and your preference. If you're not sure what's right for your plot, we'll advise honestly.
Close board fencing — the most popular choice for privacy, built from overlapping featheredge boards on horizontal arris rails. Strong, solid, and built to last.
Featheredge board fencing — a clean, traditional look that works well for longer runs along driveways and boundaries.
Trellis panels — ideal for adding height to existing fencing or as a standalone decorative boundary.
Lap and panel fencing — a cost-effective solution for garden boundaries where a full close-board finish isn't required.
Agricultural Fencing
Post & Rail, Stock Netting, and Rabbit Proof Fencing Across Yorkshire Farmland
Agricultural fencing across North Yorkshire needs to handle real conditions — stony ground, steep banks, exposed hillsides, and stock that will test any weak point. We've installed agricultural fencing on farms and smallholdings across the region, and we understand what's required for it to actually do its job.
All posts are tanalised or creosoted as required, and all wire we use is high tensile — because cheap wire costs more in the long run when it stretches and sags within a season.
Post and rail fencing — a staple of the Yorkshire countryside, available in two-rail, three-rail, and four-rail configurations. Suits horses, cattle, and general boundary definition.
Post and stock netting — we work with a range of netting specifications depending on your livestock. Cattle, sheep, pigs — we'll spec it correctly.
Rabbit proof fencing — ground-pegged netting installed at the correct depth and angle to keep rabbits out of paddocks, gardens, and growing areas.
Electric fencing installation — temporary or permanent, for rotational grazing or strip grazing systems.
We work with landowners, farmers, and equestrian businesses across Harrogate, Ripon, Thirsk, Northallerton, and throughout the Yorkshire Dales. If you need fencing on difficult ground or across significant acreage, we have the plant to get it done efficiently.
Security Fencing & Gates
Commercial & Industrial Perimeter Security Across North Yorkshire
When a site needs to be properly secured, the fencing has to be right. We install commercial and industrial-grade security fencing for businesses, schools, depots, and development sites across North Yorkshire. We're comfortable working on live commercial sites, schools, and around plant and machinery — and we carry our own insurance for all works.
Palisade fencing — the go-to for commercial perimeter security. Available in W-section and D-section profiles, galvanised and powder-coated to specification.
Mesh security fencing — welded mesh panels (358 anti-climb, V-mesh, and standard welded options) suitable for schools, car parks, industrial estates, and public spaces.
Security gates — single and double leaf gates to match perimeter fencing, with manual or automated operation.
Pedestrian gates and access points — sized and specified to suit traffic requirements.
We've worked with schools and local authorities on fencing contracts — so we understand the additional compliance requirements around public and educational sites. If you need a specification written or have drawings to price from, send them across.
Site Hoarding & Temporary Fencing
Temporary Site Security and Hoarding for Construction Projects
Construction sites need temporary security from day one. We supply and install site hoarding and temporary fencing for development projects, renovation works, and groundworks contracts across North Yorkshire — whether you need it in place for two weeks or two years.
Timber hoarding — solid close-boarded hoarding for sites requiring full screening of works from the public or adjacent properties.
Metal hoarding — steel panel hoarding for longer-term site security, typically on larger commercial and civil engineering projects.
Heras fencing — free-standing temporary mesh fencing using either metal or wooden posts for stability on varied ground. Fast to install, relocatable, and suited to phased construction programmes.
Combination installations — where projects need different solutions across different site boundaries, we can mix and match.
We can provide temporary fencing as part of a broader groundworks contract, or as a standalone supply-and-install package. If your principal contractor needs a suitably qualified sub-contractor for hoarding works, we're available for CIS-registered engagements.
Newt Fencing (Amphibian Exclusion Fencing)
Ecological Compliance Fencing for Development and Infrastructure Projects
Newt fencing — or amphibian exclusion fencing — has become increasingly standard on construction, infrastructure, and land development projects, particularly where great crested newt surveys have identified habitats on or adjacent to a site.
Getting it installed correctly matters. Improperly installed exclusion fencing can result in protected species incursions onto the active works area, regulatory issues, and programme delays. We install to the specification set out by ecologists and ecological consultants, using the correct materials at the right depth and with the appropriate returns to prevent animals bypassing the barrier.
Smooth, impermeable barrier membrane (typically polythene or amphibian-specific fencing membrane) installed vertically with the correct ground return.
Timber or steel post support at specified centres.
Installation to depths required by your ecological consultant — we'll work from their specification.
Pitfall trap installation and integration where required as part of a translocation programme.
We work directly with ecological consultants and principal contractors on projects requiring amphibian exclusion fencing. If you have a method statement or ecological mitigation plan that requires compliant installation, get in touch and we'll discuss programme and cost.
Why Choose Wrights for Fencing?
We're a groundworks and landscaping business, not a dedicated fencing-only contractor — and for most of our customers, that's actually an advantage. Fencing rarely exists in isolation. A new paddock fence needs proper ground preparation. A commercial security fence on a new development might follow drainage and groundworks. A residential boundary project might combine fencing with paving or landscaping.
Because we carry our own plant and have our own team, we can manage all of that under one contract, on one programme, without the coordination headaches of multiple sub-contractors.
Proper site assessment before quoting — we look at ground conditions, access, and any constraints before pricing.
Fixed quotations — no vague estimates that expand when work starts.
Our own team on every job — we don't pass work to unknown subbies.
Fully insured works across all fencing types.
CIS-registered for contractor engagements.
Coverage across North Yorkshire — Harrogate, York, Thirsk, Ripon, Northallerton, Knaresborough, Skipton, and surrounding areas.
